This
is what we Do

By looking deeply in the communities where most member are looking forward to learn more about healthier life. They wish to be educatated about the benefits of sanitation and hygiene.

Our Vision

Despite intense activity and some considerable achievements, the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) on safe drinking water and basic sanitation was not met by the 2015 deadline. There are several billion people in the world who lack access to basic or to safely managed sanitation. The result is a public health crisis, with infants and young children being the most affected group. The Sustainable Development Goal on sustainable water and sanitation management (SDG 6) aims at giving access to water and sanitation to all by 2030. This is not just about achieving a narrow sanitation access target. The targets under SDG 6 address sanitation beyond toilets, including aspects of excreta management and reuse. Furthermore, good sanitation, hygiene and wastewater management are fundamental to achieving many of the other SDGs. The SDGs and the broader 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development make the work of CoHA more important than ever..

Structure

CoHA is not itself an organisation or a legal entity but an informal network which Partners and individual Members contribute at their own expense and on their own responsibility. Its decision-making structure is based on reaching a broad consensus and giving all its diverse members and partners a voice in the process. The different elements of our structure are explained below. They include: individual members, partner organisations, working groups, core group, interim steering committee, secretariat.

individual members

The CoHA network currently has around 15,000 individual members. Anyone can register for free to join the network. Members can post to the CoHA Discussion Forum and join Working Groups. They can attend CoHA’s meetings and take part in decision making processes about the direction of the Alliance. Members can also receive forum digests by e-mail and newsmails from CoHA.

Core group

The CoHA Core Group takes operational decisions for the Alliance between CoHA meetings, organises CoHA meetings and events, and suggests strategic policies and plans. The Core Group is made up of Working Group leads and co-leads, Regional Chapter Coordinators, members of the Secretariat and other volunteers from the network. Membership of the Core Group is limited, but anyone in the network can apply. If you are interested in joining the Core Group, contact the CoHA Secretariat stating your willingness and why you wish to join the Core Group.
